ANNOUNCEMENT TURBO PRODUCTS AND RdF CORP., PT6 FAA PMA PARTS NOW APPROVED FOR USE IN CANADA
For many years Canadian Aviation Regulations have contained provisions that prevented the use of U. S. FAA Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) parts for Canadian designed engines (example PT6 engines) from being installed in Canadian registered aircraft. This restriction was removed effective February 13, 2002 by Transport Canada. Northstar Turbine, as the manufacturer's representative for many PMA parts manufactured by Turbo Products and Rdf Corp., is immediately offering its full line of PMA parts for Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 engines for installation in Canadian registered aircraft.
On February 13, 2002, the Director, Aircraft Maintenance and Manufacturing, Transport Canada approved an exemption of CAR 571.07. The following quotations summarize that exemption.
"... and after taking into account that the exemption is in the public interest and is not likely to affect aviation safety, I hereby exempt persons installing parts on Canadian registered aircraft...from paragraphs (c) to (h) of Standard 571.07..." "The effect of the exemption is to provide installers of parts with additional acceptable sources of supply of parts" "The exemption applied to persons installing FAA PMA parts on Canadian registered aircraft or on an aeronautical product intended for installation on a Canadian registered aircraft."
Turbo Products' FAA PMA parts now approved for use in Canadian registered aircraft include: CT blades, (nickel) CT vanes, CT shroud segments and CT vane rings, etc. Likewise, RdF Corp. FAA PMA parts include thermocouple assemblies. For a complete PMA parts listing visit our web site at www.pt6pma.com.
The full text of CAR 571.07 and the full text of the exemption are attached.
Sincerely,
Ralph Hawkins Chief Engineer Northstar Turbine LLC
